Cannot assign sales area to BP sold-to Party

HI,

When I create a new BP of type Sold-to party, I am not being able to assign a sales area to the BP.

I get a message CRM_ORGMAN204 " There are no sales areas for maintenance" and the 'Choose sales area' button on the sales are data tab is grayed out so there is no possibility of enterign the sales area.

I have checked my org model in PPOMA_CRM and I have defined an org unit as a sales organization and have also checked the box  for 'object permitted in determination'.

Is anything else needed to activate the sales org ? Any help in this area will be highly appriciated.
